Guide : Configuring SIP on Nokia E51 (Use voip for phone calls)

Many of you must have bought your expensive mobile phone with the aim to use voip in your phone. You actually need to configure SIP in your phone before you use Voip to make cheap calls directly from your mobile. You can also buy voip adapters in order to use your Landline to make cheap or free voip calls. Linksys PAP2T is a good options (we covered a post yesterday) and its cheap too (only ~ $50).

Coming back to configuring SIP on your Nokia E51. This should work well with Nokia E56 too. We have posted the sip settings (configuring SIP) for voipdiscount (one of the betamax companies). You just need to replace voipdiscount with your voip provider name in order to configure sip for any other voip provider.

Go to: Menu>Tools>Settings>Connection>Sip Settings (In your mobile phone Nokia E51)

Enter following details -:
Profile name: voipdiscount (your voip provider)
Service profile: IETF
Default access point: Default Wlan or any other
Public user name: sip:xxxxxx@voipdiscount.com
Use compression: No
Registration: Always On
Use security: no

Proxy server
Proxy server address: sip.voipdiscount.com
Realm: voipdiscount.com
User name: your username with your voip provider
Password: your password
Allow loose routing: Yes
Transport type: UDP
Port: 5060

Registrar server
Registrar serv. addr: sip.voipdiscount.com
Realm: voipdiscount.com
User name: your username with your voip provider
Password: your password
Transport type: UDP
Port: 5060

Go to : Menu>Tools>Connect>Internet.Tel>Options>Settings>Preferred Call Type> Internet Call
Voipdiscount Setting>Login Type>Manual

Now Save Conn. Networks

I guess you should now be able to configure your mobile with SIP settings. Now you can enjoy cheap calling from your Nokia E51.

Nymgo SIP settings : Configure your SIP Phone

Hi,

Nymgo is really a very cheap voip provider offering calls to India at just 1.9 cents/minute. But there is slight twist, Nymgo only offers calls via their softphone.

We have found the SIP settings for Nymgo that means you can use these SIP settings to make Phone to Phone calls using Nymgo. You can make calls directly from your mobile (using Mobile SIP) or your SIP device (you can use Xlite). Below are the SIP settings for Nymgo (a very cheap voip provider).


SIP Server Or SIP Proxy Server: ata.nymgo.com
SIP User ID: Your Nymgo username
Authenticate ID: Nymgo username
SIP password: Nymgo Password
SIP Port: 5060
Codec Used: g729
STUN Server: stun.nymgo.com
STUN port: 80

Configuring SIP service on Xlite softphone : Userguide

Hi,

You guys know most of the voip calls are routed through SIP. You can use sip settings of various voip provder to make calls to your destination. Most of the betamax services provide SIP settings, and SIP settings of many other voip providers (like reliance etc) are known. Once you know the SIP settings of voip provider, you can call using your SIP device, mobile sip or any other SIP softphone. You can also use Doodle SIP (web based sip phone).

We have received many emails from users asking about the procedure to configure sip. We will today discuss about configuring SIP on the worlds most famous SIP softphone "X-lite". Its a very simple procedure (userguide).

Supposing you want to configure SIP for your betamax account with voipuser.

1. Download X-lit from Xlite website (softphone by counterpath).
2. Open X-lite. At the top, click on the arrow to open sip settings.
3. Click on add.
4. In the tab, enter your information.
Display Name : Any name you would like to see on your phone.
Username : it is your sip service username.
Password : Your SIP service password.
Authorization User Name : Your username only.
In the Domian : Enter either your SIP service IP address or if you have proxy, just add that.
In case of voipuser add
Proxy : sip.voipuser.org

5. Click ok and close it.

You have successfully configured the SIP softphone X-lite. I hope you will easil be able to follow this X-lite configuring userguide and make sip calls.
